IDOT’s Proposed Highway Improvement Program focuses on $28 million in state highway projects and $9.8 million in local highway projects in the City of Bloomington and the Town of Normal.
FY 2019: Resurface and make Americans with Disabilities Act improvements at the intersection of Empire Street and Veterans Parkway in Bloomington. The project area includes Empire Street from Empire Crossing to Prospect Road and Veterans Parkway from north of Washington Street to Clearwater Avenue. In addition, IDOT plans to repair the bridge over Norfolk Southern Railroad on Center Street from Kentucky Alley to Oakland Avenue.
FY 2020 to FY 2024: Resurfacing and ADA improvement projects include Veterans Parkway from Commerce Parkway to north of Washington Street in Bloomington and from Clearwater Avenue to Old Route 66 in Bloomington and Normal.
IDOT is also planning to reconstruct Center Street from Division Street to Empire Street in Bloomington.
The agency also plans to fund construction to extend Hamilton Road from Bunn Street to Commerce Parkway.
