Carrying on an over 40 year tradition, McLean County Laborers International Union of North America (LIUNA) Local 362 will again field over 70 volunteers for the track and field events at Illinois Special Olympics State Games in Normal on Saturday, June 10, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Laborer volunteers will be assisting at the track and field races north of Horton Field House on the campus.
The Laborers have consistently volunteered with the State Games since they first came to Normal.
The late Ronald Morehead was on the Illinois Special Olympics board for many years. Ronn served as President when the organization grew from a part-time staff at Illinois State University to their current headquarters on Willow Street in Normal. Retired LIUNA Vice-President and Midwest Regional Manager John F. Penn currently serves on the Illinois Special Olympics board.
