McLean County Government’s COMLARA Park’s trails and boat ramp will be open, effective 8:00am, Monday, March 23, 2020. Other services will be closed until further notice, within intent to prevent the transmission and spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
Ahead of Governor Pritzker’s shelter-in-place Executive Order, effective 5:00pm March 21, 2020, and with intent to flatten the curve of the effects of COVID-19, McLean County Administration closed COMLARA Park on Friday, March 20, 2020.
We will alter the original decision, to promote use of COMLARA Park’s trails and Evergreen Lake, while strongly urging the public to use the social distancing recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Illinois Department of Public Health.
Illinois State Parks closed last week; and playgrounds, as per the Governor’s shelter-in-place Executive Order must be closed.
However, considering that COMLARA Park’s scenic walking, hiking, and biking trails can provide a much- needed respite to shelter-in-place requirements, please note that effective Monday, March 23, 2020, at 8:00am, we will open COMLARA Park’s trails and boat ramps.
We urge all public using the trails for walking and running to stay six (6) feet away from others. Also, the boat ramps will be open, for those who want to get out on the lake. If you are going out to fish or boat, we urge you to use social distancing on your watercraft.
Because of our desire to protect the health of our visitors and staff, COMLARA Park’s campground, office and all other onsite facilities will be closed until April 7, 2020.
COMLARA’s Park Ranger will be present; of course, all other Park rules apply.
