Ft. Jesse Imaging and the Gale Keeran Center for Women have provided some new equipment for the Health Sciences division at Heartland Community College.
Working with the Heartland Community College Foundation, Ft. Jesse Imaging donated a GE Ultrasound Machine, complete with probe accessories, to the Heartland Community College (HCC) Radiography Program.
“We are extremely grateful for community partners like Ft. Jesse Imaging for their generous donation of an ultrasound machine to our radiography program,” said Dean of Health Sciences Kelly Pyle. “Support like this plays a crucial role in enhancing the educational opportunities for our healthcare students and improves hands-on learning, so that our students are better prepared to enter the healthcare workforce.”
Prior to this donation, Heartland’s Radiography program did not have ultrasound equipment, as its primary focus is Radiology/X-ray. The donation of the ultrasound machine will provide the Health Sciences Department and Radiography Program with opportunities to explore future growth in sonography.
“As a member of the Heartland Radiography Advisory Board and the HCC Alumni Corporate Council Committee, I am proud to support this initiative,” said Melissa Jewett, Administrator at Fort Jesse Imaging Center and the Gale Keeran Center for Women. “We are committed to fostering the success of the Radiography program and its future students.”
Heartland’s two-year Radiography program prepares students for an occupation in the professional field of medical radiography (x-ray technology). Related imaging modalities include computed tomography, angiography, magnetic resonance imaging, and mammography. Radiography is a specialty within the field of Radiologic Technology, along with diagnostic medical sonography, nuclear medicine, and radiation therapy.
Heartland’s Health Sciences division offers programs leading to Associate of Applied Science degrees in Nursing, PTA and Radiography and also certificates in Medical Assistant and EMT/Paramedic.
