Illinois pension liability 2nd worst in U.S.
Illinois’ unfunded pension liability compared to personal income is the second worst in the country, according to a nationwide report from Fitch Ratings.
Behind only Connecticut, Fitch pegs Illinois’ unfunded pension liability and other post employment benefits at $206.5 billion, taking up 22.8% of the state’s personal income.
Tool company to receive $5 million from state taxpayers
The Marshalltown Hammer Company in Bushnell will receive $5 million from state taxpayers in an effort the Pritzker administration said preserves 100 jobs and supports advanced manufacturing in the region.
Marshalltown has made tools and equipment across a wide range of industries since 1890.
REAL ID promotion
The Illinois Secretary of State’s Office plans another pop-up event to get residents REAL ID compliant state identification.
Thursday’s appointment-only event will be at the Abraham Lincoln Capitol Airport in Springfield.
Effective May 7, 2025, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security will require airline passengers to present REAL ID to board domestic flights or enter federal buildings like military bases and federal courts.
