The McLean County Chamber of Commerce, based in Bloomington, has been named the recipient of the 2024 Outstanding Chamber of the Year Award by the Illinois Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (IACCE). The prestigious award, presented during IACCE’s Annual Celebration & Awards Dinner on Thursday, November 15, honors a Chamber of Commerce in Illinois for its exemplary leadership and organizational achievements.
This recognition celebrates excellence in leadership, governance, finance, advocacy, and membership development. It also serves as a benchmarking tool to evaluate a chamber’s overall effectiveness. The McLean County Chamber’s strong performance earlier this year, when it earned a five-star re-accreditation from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce (placing it in the top 3% of chambers nationwide), contributed to the award decision.
The award judges praised the McLean County Chamber’s innovative programs and impactful outreach efforts, particularly its work addressing key local challenges such as workforce shortages and limited housing options. One judge remarked, “The Chamber, under the leadership of President & CEO Charlie Moore, impressed with its commitment to solving critical issues facing the Bloomington-Normal area.”
Collaborative Solutions for Workforce and Housing
The McLean County Chamber has made significant strides in developing collaborative solutions through its workforce development initiative, COMPACT, which partners with local schools, businesses, and government entities to address regional workforce needs. In addition, the Chamber has taken an active role in advocating for diverse housing projects, hosting community forums to facilitate discussion and drive change.
Rudy Flores, IOM, 2024 IACCE Board Chair and President of the Lincoln Square/Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce in Chicago, praised the Chamber’s work, stating, “Through its advocacy and partnerships, the McLean County Chamber is making a real difference in the local economy, contributing to the long-term prosperity of the Bloomington-Normal community.”
A Year of Growth and Success
Charlie Moore, President & CEO of the McLean County Chamber of Commerce, expressed pride in the achievement, saying, “We are truly honored to receive the 2024 Outstanding Chamber of the Year Award. This year has been one of incredible growth for the Chamber, and more importantly, for the success of our members. Our programs continue to evolve and expand to meet the needs of our business community.”
Tyler Cravens, Chief Operating Officer, added, “This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team. We couldn’t do this without the support of our members, and we are deeply grateful for their continued trust and partnership.”
