Man released pretrial after concealment of death
A Mount Prospect man facing charges in connection with the death of his ex-girlfriend has been allowed to go free from custody.
Police said 26-year-old Juan Toto admitted that he and his 23-year-old ex-girlfriend got into an altercation Saturday when she fell and hit her head. According to police, Toto said he put her in the back seat of his car and left her body in a forest preserve.
Toto was charged with one felony count of concealment of a death, but he was granted pretrial release. Police said this was because of the Pretrial Fairness Act. Concealment of a death is not a detainable offense.
