Peoples Gas decision expected
Utility regulators at the Illinois Commerce Commission will announce their final decision in the Peoples Gas rate case Thursday.
If the ICC approves a draft order issued by an administrative judge, Peoples Gas will get a $7.9 million rate increase. Critics of the request, including Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul and Illinois PIRG, argued either for no rate increase or for a smaller one.
Man sentenced for fraud
An Illinois man who filed a defamation lawsuit believed to be the first in the state under the new anti-doxxing statute is going to jail for tax fraud.
Nikko D’Ambrosio of Des Plaines sued 27 women, Facebook and its parent company Meta for defamation and emotional distress after he received bad reviews on a dating page.
In handing down the one year jail sentence, the judge said the numbers D’Ambrosio tried to pass off to the IRS about his work mileage and charitable contributions “are outrageous.”
Enjoy Illinois 300 this weekend
The NASCAR circuit pays a visit to Illinois this weekend.
Tens of thousands of race fans are expected to gather at the World Wide Technology Raceway in Madison, not only for the Enjoy Illinois 300, but also for several days worth of NASCAR-themed events.
The raceway packed a sold-out crowd of more than 57,000 fans for the main event in each of the last two years.
