The Town of Normal announced plans to change the name of Fairview Aquatic Center to Kent M. Karraker Aquatic Center at Fairview Park in honor of Former Mayor Kent Karraker.
Town of Normal Mayor Chris Koos shared this news with the Karraker family on May 25 at the memorial service for Former Mayor Karraker. The name change will take place officially in the future.
“Kent Karraker made a long and lasting impact on the Town of Normal,” says Koos. “He accomplished a lot during his terms of service. He personally took pride in renovating Fairview Pool in 1998 and was passionate about the aquatics program. Kent and his family spent a lot of time at Fairview. Naming the aquatic center in his honor is a lasting tribute recognizing the incredible legacy he created for our community.”
The Town will officially rename the facility at an event to be held in the future. A formal announcement will be made at that time.
