The City of Bloomington and Town of Normal invite community members to provide input on the most pressing needs in the community related to housing and neighborhoods.
Annually, the City and Town receive about $1 million in federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding. In partnership with the McLean County Regional Planning Commission, the City and Town are working on a five-year plan to allocate these limited resources to best meet needs in housing, public services, economic development and public infrastructure.
To aid the City and Town in making these important investments, input from residents is being sought via a brief survey. The survey is available online at mcplan.org in English, Spanish and French and takes about 10 minutes to complete. Paper copies and survey drop boxes are located at various locations throughout the community. Visit mcplan.org for an up-to-date list of drop box locations.
50th Anniversary
In 2024, Federal, state, and local governments celebrate the 50th anniversary of the CDBG program. The anniversary serves as an important reminder to recognize CDBG contributions which provide funding for affordable housing, suitable living environments and economic opportunities for persons of low and moderate income. Over the past four years, the Bloomington-Normal community has received nearly $4 million in CDBG funding to support projects directly benefiting residents and neighborhoods. An additional $1.45 million was received to prevent, prepare for and respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.
