Normal PD was dispatched to the area of S. Linden St. and Lindell Dr. for a report of multiple gunshots in the area at approximately 3:30 am Sunday.
While in route to the location, officers learned that one person had been shot and was being transported to Carle BroMenn Hospital by a friend. Upon arrival, officers observed multiple vehicles flee the area at a high rate of speed.
As officers spoke with potential witnesses, dispatch advised that another victim had arrived at Carle BroMenn Hospital. Officers responded to the hospital and spoke with hospital staff who advised that two victims had arrived at the hospital with what appeared to be gunshot related injuries. One male victim was struck in the leg and one female victim had a graze wound. Both victims injuries were considered non-life-threatening.
Officers located evidence of gunfire which had struck multiple apartments and several vehicles in the area. Officers made contact at each of the apartments and located no additional victims. Officers from multiple agencies including Illinois State University Police, Bloomington Police, McLean County Sheriff’s Office and Illinois State Police assisted with crime scene security and processing.
The investigation into this incident is ongoing and no arrest has been made at this time.
In a second incident on Sunday at approximately 3:17pm Normal PD responded to the 300 block of Lindell Dr. for a report of multiple shots fired. Upon arrival, officers spoke with multiple witnesses who stated they heard several gunshots in the area.
Officers located several shell casings in the area. No injuries were reported to police.
The investigation into this case is still ongoing and no arrest has been made at this time.
