Young Jack, 11 years old, was grabbed by his bus driver on Dec. 2, 2022. His mother has been trying to get justice.
Footage from an unknown student’s cell phone captured Ka Lin, an El Paso Gridley bus driver, grabbing Jack by the head and yelling at him. Allegedly, Jack was cussing on the bus.
“This is a blatant disregard for child safety. I can think of no other job where you wouldn’t be immediately fired for behaving like this,” said Amanda Wilson, the mother of Jack.
The incident took place on a state highway in McLean county.
Cities called the El Paso police to ask where the report was and we were told it was passed up to Illinois State police.
Officer Antonne “Tony” Maxison was the original officer who spoke with Wilson after the incident, and according to Wilson, he sat on it for 48 hours.
“What Mrs. Wilson didn’t include in her rant was that this happened in McLean County,” said Maxison, who told us the report was filed in McLean county and pass up to the Illinois state police because it happend on a state highway.
Neill Mooney, an Illinois state police officer was allegedly suppose to file a report.
Audio obtained by Wilson reveals the El Paso Gridley school resource officer Sergeant Wilkey admits there is definitely “a crime” here.
The bus driver Ka Lin Aucutt was disciplined according to Brian Kurtz. He could not reveal what type of discipline was given because of staff confidentiality.
“Those actions will not tolerated by this school district,” said Brian Kurtz, who is the superintendent at El Paso Gridley school district.
Aucutt is still a bus driver, but Jack is not on her bus route anymore. Jack is currently in therapy, according to Wilson, and frequently breaks out in hives and panic attacks when he sees her bus.
Amanda Wilson said she got the run around from El Paso police, but as soon as McLean County sheriff Matt Lane got the report into his hands things started happening.
“He is extremely helpful,” said Wilson.
In an email, Erika Reynolds, the States Attorney, she said she referred the case to the “Crimes Against Children” division.
“It (The case) will take some time to review,” the email states.
Reynolds also says they are reviewing the case for applicable charges.
