The Darren Bailey for Governor campaign has been criticized by the JB Pritzker for Governor campaign for being slow to come to the table in responding to its question to the Bailey campaign regarding whether or not it would accept the election results.
Pritzker was in town on Wednesday under the guise of attending a ground breaking ceremony at Ferrero conveniently scheduled one week before the election. The ceremony was essentially a redo of an event announcing the planned expansion that the governor attended in June two weeks before the primary election.
During a presser at Ferrero Pritzker was asked, “Governor Darren Bailey’s campaign has come out and announced that it will accept the election results whether he wins or loses, what is your response to that?
“Finally,” Pritzker responded, “the truth is that Darren Bailey has surrounded himself with election deniers and January 6th insurrectionists and the number one election denier, Donald Trump, has endorsed him. So it was important for him to come out and say whether or not he would accept the results of the election.”
On Saturday morning Darren Bailey held a rally at Denny’s Doughnuts and Cities 92.9 asked him to respond to Pritzker’s allegation.
“JB Pritzker,” Bailey started, “All this man does is lie and spew false information. I have answered that question multiple times. I have said yes I am fine with the results of the election because we are placing poll watchers and election judges and people to rebuild confidence in our election system because people have lost confidence.”
“But JB Pritzker,” Bailey continued, “He is going to be saying the same thing tomorrow because he can’t talk about his failed record of increasing crime in our streets. He won’t talk about raising our taxes over 24 times and pushing people out of Illinois. And he sure as heck won’t talk about his failure in our public schools and the reality that the majority of our children can not read or do math at grade level. That’s the truth of JB Pritzker.”
During his speech Darren Bailey addressed crime saying, “You know Halloween is over but the nightmare on Elm St. lives on in Chicago. You’ve heard me. I call it Pritzkerville. Strong arm robbery from Broad along Elm St., terrorizing revelers and Gold Coast families that are afraid to walk their dogs.”
“Then in Lawndale last week,” Bailey continued, “Did you here about the 14 people who were shot? A baby and two little girls were injured. We were very close to that as we were returning back into the city and were passed up by lots of law enforcement headed to the scene. Guns had sprayed fire at a community gathering. And friends, this has become normal in the City of Chicago and when we don’t stop this it’s going to be normal in Illinois.”
