On Thursday afternoon the Normal Planning Commission approved changing the zoning from B-1 General Business to R-3A Multi-family Residence for a lot located on the southeast corner of N. Parkside Rd. and W. Raab Rd.
The final plat of The Lofts Northend Planned Unit Development included a Lot 1 of 6.14 acres as well as a Lot 2, of 3.0 acres, which is the southeast corner lot at N. Parkside Rd. and W. Raab Rd. Lot 1 was developed as a multifamily residential development. Lot 2 was originally conceived of as, and zoned for, B-1 commercial development.
With the proposed zoning change the entire southeast corner at N. Parkside Rd. and W. Raab Rd. will be developed as a multi-family residential development. The property is near Heartland Community College and is an ideal location for this type of use.
Apartment complexes next to the subject lots are Sami Lofts to the east off of W. Rabb Rd. and Heartland Village Apartments to the south off of N. Parkside Rd.
