Activist Krystle Able is applying to the McLean County Board District 4 seat.
According to Back the Blue Central Illinois, Able is known for her strong support of the defunding and abolishment of law enforcement; however, she now uses softer terms like “divesting”, “reallocating resources” and “needing less law enforcement.”
Back the Blue, of which Cities 92.9 is a proud sponsor, says Able previously “liked” a Facebook post on June 17, 2020, which included the quote, “We demand the defunding of police, and we mean it.”
“Able is a former executive officer of the Bloomington-Normal chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America, which has since dissolved due to the toxicity within the group, but is still very indicative of her
extreme, far-left ideologies,” stated Back the Blue is a press release.
“The political platform of the DSA includes the constraining, diminishing and abolishing of police and prisons.”
One of the DSA demands is to “defund the police by rejecting any expansion to police budgets or scope of law enforcement while cutting budgets annually towards zero.”
“Our goal is to continue to actively support our law enforcement by, and through, our organization and call on the community leaders maintain an appropriate budget for all police agencies to ensure the
safety of our communities,” stated Back the Blue.
“It is clear that Ms. Able will bring her extreme attitudes to the board and will fight against our law enforcement having the proper budget and tools to do their job, putting the safety of McLean County at risk.”
Back the Blue said they stand in unity with the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #176, and they urge additional community leaders to stand beside them and object the appointment of Able to the McLean County Board.
They urge the McLean County Board to vote no to the appointment of Able.
“We do not believe that Ms. Able has the best interests of District 4 or the county in mind when the majority of McLean County supports law enforcement,” stated Back the Blue.
Back the Blue Central Illinois was founded on July 15, 2020. They have social media content, have held rallies in 2020 and 2021 and stand on the principles of supporting good law enforcement officers.
According to Back the Blue Central Illinois, when they started this organization, they did so because of the growing hatred towards law enforcement in the country and in our own community.
