With the surge in COVID numbers locally and across the state, the City of Bloomington will move to conducting its meetings in a virtual format for the month of January.
In accordance with the Illinois Open Meetings Act, a written determination was made today by Mayor Mboka Mwilambwe and Mayor Pro Tem Jamie Mathy that it is not practical or prudent to hold in person meetings at this time. Instead, the City will move to a hybrid format for staff and some officials to physically be onsite at meeting locations, in addition to no more than 10 members of the public. All others will be able to view and participate in the City’s meetings via Zoom.
For City Council Meetings, individuals wishing to provide emailed public comment must email comments to publiccomment@cityblm.org at least 15 minutes before the start of the meeting. Individuals wishing to speak in-person or remotely may register at cityblm.org/register at least 5 minutes before the start of the meeting for in-person public comment and at least 15 minutes before the start of the meeting for remote public comment.
All City meetings are affected by this determination and the move to the virtual format will be in effect through January 31, 2022, unless revoked before that time by Mayor Mwilambwe and contingent on the renewal of Governor Pritzker’s Disaster Proclamation.
The additional information on how to participate in City meetings will be on each posted agenda. Agendas are posted 48-hours in advance of each meeting and can be found on the City’s website HERE. The meetings will continue to be streamed on the City of Bloomington YouTube channel.
