The City of Bloomington’s Parks Recreation & Cultural Arts department is making changes.
Jay Tetzloff, who has been serving as the Director of Bloomington’s Parks Recreation & Cultural Arts (PRCA) department, as well as the Director for the Miller Park Zoo for the past six years will step out of the role as Parks director to become the Superintendent of Miller Park Zoo while PRCA Assistant director, Eric Veal, will assume the role of interim director.
City Manager, Tim Gleason recognized the need for the PRCA and the Miller Park Zoo to be managed separately and planned to post for the Superintendent of Zoo’s position. With 34 years in the field and a passion for the profession, Tetzloff expressed his interest.
Tetzloff took on the dual role on an interim basis in 2015 and “it’s been nearly seven,” jokes Tetzloff.
Eric Veal, who has served the City of Bloomington – Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department for over 21 years and is presently a Certified Parks and Recreation Executive (CPRE) through the National Parks & Recreation Association (NRPA) and has 26 years in the field.
