Normal Police Chief Rick Bleichner confirms that two of the five people shot in the shooting incident in Normal near the 2000 block of Linden Monday afternoon are dead and so is the suspect.
The two victims, both who are female, were declared dead at the scene
Paramedics rushed the three other victims to the hospital. We do not know their conditions.
No names have been released.
Bleichner said while no police were shot, they did discharge their guns.
Illinois State Police are now handling the investigation.

This afternoon at approximately 3:44 p.m. officers from the Normal Police Department responded to the 2000 block of Lambert Drive in Normal for a report of an active shooting situation. Upon arrival officers located multiple victims with gunshot wounds and began to render aid. Other responding officers located the suspect and based on their fear of imminent harm to themselves and others,
discharged their firearms, striking and killing the suspect. The preliminary investigation indicates that there are no other suspects or threats to the public.
There are a total of 5 gunshot victims, two of whom were pronounced deceased on scene by representatives from the McLean County Coroner’s Office and three who were transported to Carl Hospital in Normal with serious injuries. Autopsies are in the process of being scheduled and the name of any of the decedents is being withheld pending the notification of the family.
As a matter of protocol, because a member of our staff was involved in an action that resulted in the death of an individual, the Illinois State Police has been contacted and will take over the criminal and officer involved shooting investigations. Officers who discharged their weapons during this incident will be on administrative leave pending the outcome of the State Police investigation.
