The McLean County Emergency Management Agency has completed the initial damage assessment for the county; that data is being submitted to the state. Information from the state regarding the report is expected within the next few weeks. EMA would like to express their appreciation for the assistance provide by the following agencies:
Emergency Management Assistance Team – EMAT
Illinois Emergency Management Agency – IEMA
Laborers’ Disaster Response Team – LDRT
McLean County Sheriff’s Office
Southern Baptist Disaster Response
Team Rubicon
The assessment data showed a significant number of people and businesses needing assistance of one form or another. Using that list EMA is working with state and local agencies to try to meet those needs by holding a Multi-Agency Resource Center (MARC). A MARC brings applicable resources to one location to assist communities that have been affected by a disaster. People should expect to receive information and referrals.
Acting Director of the McLean County EMA, Cathy Beck said. “We are working to bring together agencies such as the Illinois Department of Human Services, Illinois Department of Insurance, the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army, local social service agencies, comfort dogs, and agencies that specifically assist seniors, veterans, and those with functional needs.”
The MARC will be in operation on Saturday, July 17th from 10:00 am – 7:00 pm and Sunday, July 18th from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm and will be held at Bloomington Junior High School, 901 Colton Ave, Bloomington. There is ample parking and for those without vehicles it is on the Connect Transit Blue Route. Those attending are asked to park in the NW lot and should enter through door W2. Each household in attendance will need to show proof of address and should bring an ID.
Agencies that would like to participate, or businesses that would like to provide give-aways to the attendees and/or meals for the volunteers, are asked to contact McLean County EMA at 309-888-5020 or ema@mcleancountyil.gov.
