Donald J. Whalen, 53, of Bloomington, on Thursday was arrested by Bloomington Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit. Whalen was taken into custody without incident at his residence in the 900 block of N. Oak St. at approximately 4:15 p.m. for felony McLean County warrants.
The warrant charges were for nine felony counts of Escape; failure to comply with a condition of the electronic monitoring or home detention program.
Whalen is being held at the McLean County Jail. Whalen’s bond amount is $200,000 – 10% to apply.
Donald Whalen had spent 28 years in prison for his father’s murder after his conviction in 1991. Whalen was out of prison on home detention awaiting a new trial.
