This February, get your heart pumping and your blood moving and give yourself and your community the gift of improved heart health. For a small donation that benefits the Illinois Heart and Lung Foundation’s (IHLF) automated external defibrillator (AED) program, select fitness classes and educational activities offered at Advocate BroMenn Health & Fitness Center, Four Seasons Health Club, and The Workout Company are open to all, regardless of membership. Monies donated will help the IHLF get AEDs in the hands of one or more local schools, churches, or non-profit agencies currently requesting the lifesaving device.
Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) strikes all ages and is the third leading cause of death in the United States. The IHLF raises money to support its AED program which educates the community about SCA and heart health; helps place AEDs with non-profit organizations, emergency responders, and in schools; and, organizes free community CPR/AED trainings to give residents the confidence to help save lives by performing the simple lifesaving tasks until medical personnel arrive.

“We are grateful for the support from Advocate BroMenn Health and Fitness Center, Four Seasons Health Club and The Workout Company and thank them for partnering with us on these community events,” says IHLF executive director Lisa Slater. “Our hope is that club members and non-members alike will take part in the opportunities to work on their heart health at these events and help us get more AEDs into the community.”
The physicians of Illinois Heart and Lung Associates established the Illinois Heart and Lung Foundation in 2000 to improve the health of the community and to provide educational programs on heart and lung health. Today, the foundation continues to work to protect lives through heart and lung health education, innovation, and action. With support from the community and business partners the Illinois Heart and Lung Foundation has raised the money needed to place more than 150 AEDs at schools, recreation facilities and with public safety and government agencies throughout McLean County.
